The biological system via the use of bait, is an innovative system in the fight against underground termites. The way it works is by difusing an insecticidal product over the entire colony, and therefore eliminating all the colony once the treatment is finished.
This insecticide has a slow acting effect and is distributed by bait stations, containg a special mix, that is insecticide which inhibits growth and is consumed by the worker termites. Slowly, via the phenomena of Trophallaxis (mouth to mouth food transfer) the whole colony will be intoxicated and will die.

Instead of an inner skeleton, insects (including termites) have an external one called an exoskeleton. The main component of this is a substance known as “chitin” and has a similar structure to cellulose, and provides the insect with protection against other insects and against external threat.
This layer must be disposed of during ecdysis and a new one grown to fit the new size of the individual. A failing in the completion of the process is lethal for termites. Due to the fact that all the colony doesn’t molt at the same time, the effect of the product is gradual and slow acting, meaning the members are incapable of identifying and avoiding the substance that is causing the loss of individuals.
The treatment has three phases;
- 1st Phase) Inspection and installation of traps.
- 2nd Phase) Control of traps and establishing contact with the colony.
- 3rd Phase) Maintenance of traps, via periodical visits.
The product uses the special biology and behaviour of the termites so they may take the substance to the colony. “NON TOXIC”, and specifically for insects, without having any effect on humans or domestic animals. And importantly without damaging the environment.
It is an alternative to chemical barrier treatments for structures or places where this is impossible or difficult.
This treatment is also possible in the interior of buildings, using “wall” traps. Once the termite tunnels have been made, the trap station is fitted into the wooden wall halting the transit of termites through the aforementioned tunnels. This trap will intercept the termite channels so that, during their usual to-ing and fro-ing they will be faced directly with the trap.
